Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu.
The first step to our trip will is a beautiful city Kathmandu. You will be warmly welcomed and greeted by our friendly staffs at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our staffs of Good Day Nepal will take you to a lovely guest house after clearing immigration and customs. And then the evening You may visit our office and city Kathmandu.
Day 2: Kathmandu Trek Preparation.
After spending beautiful whether of a night at Kathmandu we will prepare for the Kathmandu trek. Enjoying ancient cities and UNESCO world heritage sites will fascinate you. Swyambhunath temple also called monkey temple which is located in the heart of the city will surely catch your attention. Also, you may visit Pashupati Nath temple which is most popular Hindu Temple in Nepal.
Day 3: Kathmandu-Lukla-Phakding.
Today we will enjoy the exciting flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. In this route, we can enjoy the green hillside surrounded by the white snowy mountains. Lukla is known for a prosperous village with the unique culture and own tradition. Upon reaching Lukla we start our Trek to Phakding, a short hiking from Lukla. On the way, we can take some clicks and visit local monasteries. Overnight at the teahouse in Phakding.
Day 4: Trekking Phakding to Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is the largest village and known for administrative center of the Khumbu region. Today we start our trek from Phakding upon crossing pine forest along with Dudh Koshi River. We can also experience the splendid view of fir and juniper forest on the right side of Mt. Thamserku on way to Namche. Sagarmatha National Park is the gateway to the Namche Bazaar. Tonight we will stay here enjoying local food.
Day 5: Rest day-Acclimatization.
This day is for full acclimatization. Here we have few activities that can do in Namche Bazaar. We can interact with Sherpa people and can know about their rich culture and customs. What could be more interesting reaching on the quest of Mt. Everest? We will surely appreciate the scenic view from Namche Bazaar.
Day 6: Trekking Namche Bazaar to Tengboche.
From Namche Bazaar our trail ascends to the valley high above the Dudh Koshi River. We can get good views of great peak of Khumbu including Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse. After that, we head toward Phunki. From Phunki we can enjoy famous Tengboche monastery, several villages with numerous tea shop and much more. Although the path is exhausting, the wonderful mountain scenery along with rhododendron bushes and beautiful birds will surely catch your attention. Overnight at Teahouse in Tengboche.
Day 7: Trekking Tengboche to Dingboche.
Today we descend through a steep trail to damp rhododendron forest that heads to the village of Deboche village that consists of monasteries. We can also visit Pangboche monastery which provides the more clear view of Himalayas. Walking for few hours we enter Imja valley. Upon crossing Orsho we cross the small wooden bridge crossing the river. And here we come to the village of Dingboche where we can see an array of fields fenced with stones to protect potatoes, barley from cold and animals.
Day 8: Trekking Dingboche to Chhukung.
Dingboche is a beautiful village with great peaks of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Chalotse and Lhotse. Here we can see mostly summer settlement. Today we start our trek by walking through steeply stone fields. We reach upon Imja valley walking in glacier moraines. On the way to Chhukung, we can see Island Peak soaring just above us. Then we reach the village of Chhukung in about a half hour walk from Pipra. From here we can watch the panoramic view of Ama Dablam and Amphu Labtsa mountains. Overnight at Teahouse in Chhukung.
Day 9: Rest Day in Chhukung Village.
We estimate acclimatization in this day. We can spend the entire day in Chhukung village with enjoying their culture, food, tradition, and lot more. We can also visit several other villages near Chhukung village. Tonight is all ours.
Day 10: Trekking to High camp.
The trial to High camp is little adventurous along with the steep trial. We head today on to the step way ascending southern part to the main line of the valley. We can enjoy the pleasant walk that leads us to Amphu Lapcha. Then we walk from the Lhotse Glacier below the Southern part of a winding path. We continue hiking on a pleasing trial along with a streamside. This path leads us to the wide valley adjoining Island Peak where we set our high camp for overnight.
Day 11: Trekking High camp to summit and trek back to Chhukung.
We will wake up today early so that we can prepare for the trek to a summit or our destination. The trek now moves up beyond the base camp. Upon heading toward Island Peak, it is essential to fix ropes up that leads on to the summit ridge. The trek to the summit is a classic mountainous ridge and quite bare from where we traverse our way to the summit. After adoring the summit views we descend all the way to Island Peak Base Camp where we rejoice on our successful Island Peak climb. Then we will be back down the valley to Chhukung where we spend resting for a whole day. This time could be utilized in preparations for our walk on next day. After some acclimatization, we can enjoy the hill behind Chhukung that offers a nice slope and the visions of the glaciers on the opposite side. Overnight in Chhukung village.
Day 12: Trekking Chhukung to Lobuche.
Now the trek goes toward Lobuche Chhukung. After walking for few hours we take a path back. The trail then comes all the way to river. We then turn right and climb steeply toward Khumbu glacier. Rock landmarks can be seen, which are dedicated to the memory of mountaineers struggling the high mountains of the area, including Everest. The trial then gently climbs to the village of Lobuche.
Day 13: Trekking Lobuche to Everest Base Camp via Gorak Shep.
We now hike to Everest Base Camp upon passing Gorak Shep Lake on the way. The way to base camp could be misleading. But it is essential that we follow our chief Sherpa diligently. We are very high among the glaciers of the world’s greatest and highest peak. The walk here is tireless because of thin air in high altitude. We can see moraine, ridges and small streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. The mountains such as Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori can be viewed from the base camp. Then we get back to Gorak Shep for full rest.
Day 14: Trekking Gorak Shep via Kalapatthar and back to Pheriche.
After a full night rest at Gorak Shep, our next destination will be Kalapatthar. The trial to Kalapatthar is followed by Khumbu glacier which offers the splendid view of mountains, where the track is obliged to rise to cross a tributary glacier. Upon reaching Kalapatthar we can see formidable views of Mt. Everest. Then we will return back to Pheriche for rest overnight.
Day 15: Trekking Pheriche to Dengbuche.
After wonderful breakfast, we start our Trek from Pheriche to dengboche. Our walk today is easy as we walk up for few hours to Dengbuche. Overnight at Teahouse in dengboche.
Day 16: Trekking Debuche to Namche Bazaar.
We descend through a green forest with the walk for few hours until we reach upon Namche Bazaar. We will have a pleasant walk till to Namche.
Day 17: Trekking Namche Bazaar to Lukla.
After breakfast, we hike down a trace sharply descends to the suspension bridge and then continues on a relaxed walk all the way back to Lukla. Our flight will on next day morning. Till then we have time to stroll around.
Day 18 Lukla to Kathmandu
Today we pack up early and head for the airstrip for the journey back to Kathmandu. We can also plan for city site excursion if interested and Good Day Nepal will assist us for our request.
Day 19 Final Departure
And here comes to the end today. The cooperative and friendly staffs of Good Day Nepal will drop us to the Tribhuvan International Airport 3hours before the scheduled flight. Now, we have lots of memory of Island Peak Trek which will surely compel us to come next time.
