Gokyo Renjo la Pass Trek
This is a 15-day trek to reach Gokyo Valley. During this trek, you will trek through places like Lukla, Phakding, Namche, Dhole, Macchermo, Gokyo, Cho La Pass, Lumde, Thame, etc. This trek will offer a magnificent view of different snowcapped mountains like Everest, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu, Ama Dablam, etc. Also, you will be able to see Gokyo Valley and the beautiful five lakes in this region. Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek passes through old monasteries, prayer wheels/flags, chortens, mountains, different floras and faunas, animals. Throughout the trek, you will meet different people from different country and also you will meet Sherpas who are friendly enough to help you.
Many trekkers want to visit Gokyo as a side trip after finishing trekking to the Everest Base Camp to enjoy the natural beauty of five lakes, Cho La Pass, and the glaciers. We can enjoy the panoramic view of mountains ranging over 5000 m high from this region.One must be very careful while trekking in this region as one can suffer high altitude sickness and chances of misleading the way, so we must take precaution while trekking. Also, you have to take you steps carefully to avoid misstepping and injuring yourself. An experienced guide will help us with that. Acclimatization is a must for every trekker.
While trekking, you can visit local monasteries and beautiful village where you can interact with the local people there and know about the culture and lifestyle of the local people. This will be your once in the lifetime experience. You can enjoy this trip with your friends and families.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be heartily welcomed by our staffs. After completion of airport duties (visas, documents, etc.), you will proceed towards the arrival gate and look for our representatives. After that, you will be transferred to hotel. After checking in, you can take rest. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu – Trek preparation.
After finishing breakfast, we start our day with sightseeing some local historical and cultural attractions near Kathmandu including Durbar square and temples like Pashupatinath, Buddha, and Swyambhu (monkey temple) with a tour guide. After that, we will meet our trekking guide, team leader, and other members for pre-trip discussion and prepare for the Everest trek where you can ask any questions regarding this trek. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Lukla to Phakding (2610 m).
After breakfast, we will go to Tribhuvan International Airport’s domestic terminal for flight to Lukla (2800 m), the gateway from where our trek officially starts. During the 40-minute flight, you will see the magnificent view of Himalayas. After landing, we meet our crew there and make arrangements to trek further to reach Phakding. At the end of Lukla village, there is Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate. We have to cross this memorial to reach Chuplung village and other Sherpa villages. The trail continues to reach Thado Koshi from where you can see KusumKhangaru mountain. There are few tea houses and lodges to take rest and for refreshment. There are many chortens and colorful prayer flags and prayer wheels on the way to Phakding. This village is situated on the bank of Dudh Koshi river. From this village, you can see Kongde mountain. We will spend our leisure time by doing a short hike to nearby monasteries and local villages. Overnight in this village includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 04: Phakding – Namche Bazar (3440 m).
We start our trek today along the bank of Dudh Koshi River and crossing this river through many suspension bridges. We will walk through jungles of pine and different other vegetations. While trekking, we will see different breathtaking views of different Himalayan ranges. You will also see waterfall while trekking on the way to Namche. We will pass through Sagarmatha National Park and enter our name. After few minutes of walk from here, we reach Jorsalle river side which is a good place to eat lunch. After finishing our lunch, we further continue our trek and after few minutes after crossing a suspension bridge, we will reach Larja Dobhan where Bhote Koshi river and Dudh Koshi river meet. And walking for about 3 hours, we will reach Namche Bazar, which is the gateway to Mt. Everest and main hub for business in this region. This Bazar is one of the biggest Sherpa villages where there are many hotels, lodges, and stores which sells souvenirs and trekking gears. For entertainment, there are cyber cafes which provide 24-hours internet service. Local cafes also show documentaries regarding the early expeditions and trekking. You can enjoy the documentary with a cup of tea, coffee, and bakery items. Also, there are banks and ATMs. Overnight at Namche Bazar includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 05: Namche Bazaar rest day (acclimatization).
Today is the rest day for acclimatization. Today, we will stay around Namche Bazar and do short hike Syangboche village. There is Syanboche Airport in this village. After hiking for few minutes we reach to Everest View Hotel from where we can see a beautiful view of different Himalayan ranges like Thamserku (6,608m), Kusum Kanguru ( 6367 m), ( Nuptse (7,861m), Lhotse (8,414m), Ama Dablam (6,856m) and even Mt. Everest (8,850m). We can also see Khumjung village. There is a school made by Tenzing and Hillary in this village. In the center of the school, there is a statue of Sir Edmund Hillary. There is a sacred mountain Khumbila, where Guru Rimpoche meditated and it is considered to be one of the religious and sacred mountains by the local people. The main purpose of this short hike is to adjust our body to altitude to ascend further. This hike will surely help us to acclimatize.
This bazaar is the main business market where there are government offices, bakeries, restaurants, cafes, shops, ATM’s, etc. We can go to Tourist Visitor Center near Sagarmatha National Park, where there are things related to the first Everest ascenders, local Sherpa cultures, and different flora and faunas found in this region. There is a special market on Saturdays where people from surrounding villages gather in this bazaar to buy or sell their local household products like grains and other daily use products. Overnight at Namche Bazar includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 06: Namche Bazar to Dhole (4040 m):
After quickly packing our stuff, we prepared to trek further to reach Dhole. Today’s trail is little easy to walk on. Surrounded by beautiful views of mountains, floras, and faunas, we reach Kyangjuma in about 2 hours of walk. We will take a quick break here and further continue our trek. From here, the trail is little steep. We walk through this trail to reach a suspension bridge and after crossing bridge, we have to be careful because one side of the valley is quite deep. After walking for few hours, we reach Phortse Thenga, beautiful place to take a break. From here, it is about 2 to 3 hours of walk to reach Dhole. Walking through the forests and rugged trails, we reach Dhole in about 3 hours. Dhole is surrounded by beautiful snowcapped mountains, so we can enjoy the view of these mountains from our lodge. Overnight stay at lodge includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 07: Dhole to Machhermo (4470 m):
With the great natural view, we trek further from Dhole to reach Machhermo. A trail is both uphill and downhill. We will trek through forests and Dudh Koshi valley today. With very few houses on the way, we reach Luza, and while crossing Luza, we will trek through Dudh Koshi river. After walk for few hours from Luza, we will reach Machhermo. This is one of the major settlements before reaching Gokyo. We will take a break for some time and go out for sightseeing of different mountains and rivers nearby. There is a Himalayan Rescue Hospital from where you can get information regarding high altitude sickness, its treatment, and precautions. Overnight stay at lodge includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 08: Machhermo to Gokyo (4800 m).
Today’s trail is uphill and downhill and rocky, so it will be difficult to walk. On the way, you will see many chortens, prayer wheels, prayer flags, and beautiful mountains. We will reach Phangka after few hours of walk. After a slight descent to the river from Phangka, we again climb steep moraine to reach Ngozamba glacier. And after crossing an iron bridge over a small stream, we further continue our trek to reach the first lake, Longpongo. After exploring this lake, we again continue our trek to reach the second lake, Taboche Tsho. The water in this lake is simply amazing. With the sunlight sparkling over the blue water, the view is simply breathtaking. After enjoying the beauty of the second lake, we continue our trek further to reach the third lake, which is few minutes of walk from the second lake. This is the place where there is Gokyo village. This is our today’s destination. With Cho-Oyu mountain in the back, this place offers a spectacular view of the surroundings. We spend our day here exploring the surrounding.
Day 09: Gokyo rest day (Gokyo Ri (5357 m) or five Lake hike):
Today is the rest day here at Gokyo, but we will do short hikes nearby places Gokyo Ri. We will hike up Gokyo Ri to get the best view of Everest region. Gokyo also offers hike up to five lakes. We will also hike up to the fourth lake, Thonak Tsho which is about 3 km from Gokyo. We will further continue to trek up to the fifth lake, Ngozuma Tso. One can trek up the hill to get a beautiful view of Cho-Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, etc. North part of the fifth lake offers the beautiful view of Cho Oyu base camp as well as Ngazumpa glacier. We will spend few times here and we will trek back to Gokyo village. An overnight stay here includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 10: Gokyo to Lumde (4380 m):
After a good morning view in Gokyo, we will climb down to reach Lumde today. One can trek further up to Renjo La Pass (5360 m) to get a good view of the surrounding or return back to reach Lumde. There are few houses on the way back to Lumde. Trekking back to Lumde gives a good view of different mountain ranges. In about 7 to 8 hours, we will reach to Lumde. An overnight stay here includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 11: Lumde to Thame (3800 m).
Trekking today will be slightly easy compared to the other days as the trails is somewhat flat and little uphill as well as downhill. Walking through the forest and different vegetations, we will reach Thame in about 5-6 hours of time. Thame is a small village with nice Sherpa people. We will rest here today and visit monasteries nearby. An overnight stay here includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 12: Thame to Monju (2837 m):
Today’s trek will also be easy. As we descend down further, we can feel the warm breeze while walking. Most of the trail is rugged and rocky downhill. Resting in few places, taking breaks, we will reach Monju in about 3 to 4 hours. We will stay here for rest of the day and enjoy the view of the surroundings here. An overnight stay here includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 13: Monju to Lukla (2810 m):
Walking downhill will be quite easy today. We will walk slowly today. We will cross the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. The trail is more even and easy to walk on. We will walk through forests of rhododendron, pine, and open plains. We can even see the different snowcapped mountain in the far distance. We will walk passing Sherpa village to reach Lukla. This will be the last day of trekking in this region. An overnight stay here includes meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 14: Lukla to Kathmandu: Today, we fly back to Kathmandu.
We will reach Kathmandu in the morning and rest the whole day in the hotel or you can go out for shopping for friends and relatives. You can also go for some local sightseeing if you have leisure time. At evening, we will have dinner together to celebrate the successfully completing our trekking.
Day 15: Final Departure:
Today will be your last day here in Nepal. You can still do some last moment shopping or local sightseeing if there is any leisure time left. And approximately 3 hours before scheduled flight, our representative will escort you to the airport.
