Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
The first step to our trip will is a beautiful city Kathmandu. You will be warmly welcomed and greeted by our friendly staffs at Tribhuvan International Airport. Our staffs of Good Day Nepal excursion will take you to a lovely guest house after clearing immigration and customs. And then the evening is all yours with dinner and enjoyment.
Day 2: Kathmandu Trek Preparation.
After spending beautiful whether of a night at Kathmandu we will prepare for the Kathmandu trek. Enjoying ancient cities and UNESCO world heritage sites will fascinate you. Swyambhunath temple also called monkey temple which is located in the heart of the city will surely catch your attention.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara.
After having breakfast you will come to Pokhara by bus enjoying the amazing scenery of the countryside. After reaching Pokhara you will be staying at the hotel with full comfortable. And then the evening is all yours. You can go boating and enjoy the cool and romantic whether of lakeside.
Day 4: Pokhara to Kagbeni.
The trek begins and ends in Kagbeni. We can get the daily flight to Jomsom from Pokhara. Early morning by airstrip we go to Jomsom from Pokhara and then we hike for 2 hours until we reach Kagbeni. Kagbeni (or Kag) feels like a medieval village, with packed mud houses, dark tunnels, and alleys importing chortens and a large ochre-colored gompa perched above the town.
Day 5: Kagbeni to Chhuksang.
Today we ascend toward Chhuksang. From Kagbeni the trail climbs immediately to a ridge marked by a small stone chorten, then descends and we climb over another ridge. We hike on the steep slope on a narrow trail through an unstable shale deposit. After few ups and downs, we drop steeply into a dry riverbed. Then we will have the short climb to Tangbe. Here you will get black, red and white chortens that typify Upper Mustang. Waking below the village we can see picturesque of horses, elephants, and Garuda (half-human and half-bird) figures. Then about one hour beyond Tangbe, we will reach the village of Chhuksang.
Day 6: Chhuksang to Samar.
It takes around 4 to 5-hour walk from Chhuksang to Samar. With frequent breaks, we can interact with the villagers and take some pictures. There is a distinct change here in topography, culture, lifestyle and people, and the settlements. A tough bridge spans the river just in front of a subway and north from here the Kali Gandaki becomes impenetrable by foot. After continuous walk for 45 minutes Chele, we can see the good view of Kaligandaki valley, with twin peaks of Tilicho and Nilgiri. We endure up on the side of a steep gorge to a pass after which you then descend on an amusing trail to Samar.
Day 7: Samar to Geling.
Today we ascend from Samar. In about 30 minutes we reach a ridge leading into a gorge and additional valley full of juniper trees. We can see our first significant views of Upper Mustang from here including coffee-coloured peaks near. Then we walk to Syangboche village following Mani walls and small monasteries. Eventually, we attain the village of Geling. Here we can see the white and ochre-painted houses in Geling that are constructed using stones and mud.
Day 8: Geling to Charang (Tsarang).
The trial turns westward from Geling and climbs gently through fields up the center of the valley passing below Tama Gao. Turning north, it rejoins the road and becomes an unrelenting climb across the head of the valley to the Nyi La. On the way we can see extensive fields, mani walls, and many eye-catching scenes. After walking for few hours we reach Tsarang village which is the second largest town in Lo and the former capital.
Day 9: Tsarang to Lo Manthang
The trial today descends about 125 m from Tsarang which crosses the Tsarang Chu and follows the track to a cairn on a ridge opposite the village and then enters the Tholung Valley. From Lo La we can watch the view of the walled city of Lo Manthang. A short descent leads Plain (thang) of Aspiration (mon). Then we cross a stream and climb up onto the plateau of Lo Manthang.
Day 10: Lo Manthang visit rest day.
This day is for full relax and acclimatization. We can visit few places in in Lo Manthang. With a handful of temples and the raja’s palace in town, plus some noteworthy site in surrounding areas, there’s enough in and around Lo Manthang to keep us occupied.
Day 11: Lo Manthang to Lo Gekar.
Our return journey begins from Lo Manthang, through the upper highland route. This route offers intense views of Lo Manthang and the Charang Valley including snow dressed peaks in the background. After walking few hours we reach the beautiful village of Lo Gekar. We stay here and rest tonight.
Day 12: Lo Gekar to Ghemi.
Upon passing the settlement of Lo Gekar, we reach the eldest monastery in Mustang that is called Ghare Gompa. We then continue our journey toward Dhakmar crossing alpine meadows. We then walk through pretty valley climbing to a ridge and then get back to Ghemi. We take the similar way back to Ghemi.
Day 13: Ghemi to Chele.
We will keep the unforgettable views of Dhaulagiri and Nil Giri mountains we ascend toward the lower trail via Bhena. Upon leaving Kaligandaki valley we climb steeply up a rocky gully to Chele. Here we can see extensive fields of wheat and barley including coffee shops. Tonight we rest at Chele.
Day 14: Chele to Kagbeni.
After a wonderful day at Chele, our trek takes the way back to Kagbeni. Viewing panoramic scene and enjoying its beauty, walking for few hours we will be back to Kagbeni. Tonight we stay here and we can enjoy lifestyle and culture of Kagbeni.
Day 15: Kagbeni to Jomsom.
We can easily continue another three hours or so to Jomsom to be in place for a flight. This day will be a sad final day, passing back Kagbeni to Jomsom where we end our trek. We celebrate with local Sherpa and porter in the evening with whom we can interact learn about their culture and lifestyle.
Day 16: Jomsom to Pokhara.
Having all fresh memories in mind and heart, today we will be back to Pokhara by airstrip from Jomsom. We can enjoy green paddy hills and terraced fields from a plane. Within a short time, we will be in a beautiful town Pokhara.
Day 17: Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Well, after a wonderful time in the white snow covered the Himalayas and short rest in Pokhara, you then have the scenic ride by bus to Kathmandu. Upon our arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will meet our office representative with your name card and then transfer to the hotel, relax and rest this afternoon.
Day 18: Final departure
And here comes to the end today. The cooperative and friendly staffs of Good Day Nepal Excursion will drop us to the Tribhuvan International Airport 3hours before the scheduled flight. Now, we have lots of memory of Mustang trek which will surely compel us to come next time.
